Age group: All ages
Geographic area: Worldwide
You can become part of the solution to lower the impacts of human induced climate change by taking some simple actions in your home to help the environment – such as switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs, adjusting your thermostat, running the dishwasher only when full, and recycling.
Small actions can make a big impact. Through the Good Neighbor Pledge you select specific actions that you will take from a list of possible daily changes that have a positive impact on the environment. Each action represents a set of points. When you reach 20 points, complete the pledge. You are then awarded official Good Neighbor status for helping cool the planet…one home at a time!
Scientists tell us that if we cut carbon emissions by 80 percent over the next 40 years, we can avoid the worst impacts of global climate change. Making 20 points of daily changes in your Good Neighbor pledge is equal to reducing your household's carbon footprint 2 percent per year for 2 years!
